Welcome to my blog!
This blog is my space of learning and creating. The idea is to document my journey of becoming a software engineer. I'll share my project ideas and their implementations, coding problems I might find interesting and generally, everything coding-related on my mind.
You can jump right into my most recent articles or learn a bit more about me below.
About Me
Hi there! My name is Philippe and I'm a student studying Software- and Information Engineering. I've learned programming a couple of years ago and enjoyed it thorougly since. I've always loved coding up little games, algorithms or any other projects and I've now decided to share these projects instead of never looking at them again. So here we are!

This blog is for documenting my progress to keep me motivated to set and achieve new goals. For that reason, you can see some of my milestones on my journey of becoming a software-engineer below.
My Journey
Biber der Informatik 2017
In my 10th school year, there was an Austrian Informatics Competition called Biber der Informatik, designed for students attending school. Because of this, the competition consisted rather of logic questions and puzzles, instead of programming questions. I managed to score 100% on this competition, which was one of my first encounters with competitive problem solving.
Google Kickstart 2021G
In 2021 I took part in my first contest, Round 2021G of Google Kickstart, an international coding competition. Every contest goes on for 3 hours to solve 4 coding problems, each one with increasing difficulty.
I ranked 6804 out of a total of 9500 contestants, where 7233 submitted at least one successful solution. This meant, I was in the top 72%. For my first programming competition ever, I was quite happy with the result and my interest in these contests took off.
Google Code Jam 2022QR
Google Code Jam is another international coding competition, but with the bonus of there actually being a prize fund of 10000$ for the first rank. I participated in the 2022 Qualification Round, where I managed to advance.
I ranked 7243th out of a total of 32800 contestants. 31491 of them submitted at least one correct solution. This put me in the top 22%, which I was incredibly happy with at the time.
Sadly, I didn’t advance in the following rounds, but was still quite happy with my performance for my first contest with a prize pool.
Google Kickstart 2022E
Round 2022E of Google Kickstart was one of multiple contests, I’m mentioning it here, because it was my best ranking out of every Google contest.
I ranked 2338th out of 10400 total participants, where 7668 of them submitted at least one correct solution. In this round, I managed to get to the top 23%, which I felt like was an incredible achievement at the time.
37th Cloudflight Coding Contest
Some time after getting to university I participated in the 37th CCC with 2 friends from university. This competition allowed teams of up to 3 people and was held in presence.
The contest was held in Vienna City Hall and multiple other international locations. In our hall, we ranked 25th out of 140 teams. Our global rank was 181th out of 1294 total teams. This put us in the top 14%, which we didn’t expect at all and were very content with.
Future projects
I don't have as much time as I'd like to work on my blog, so it can seem as though it's not active at times. To avoid that, I'm sharing my future project ideas as well as projects I'm currently working on. Current projects are highlighted with a colored border. You can hover over (or touch on mobile) each project to get a more detailed explanation of what I have in mind.
